Joseph Marples, a renowned Sheffield toolmaker, has been crafting joinery tools like bevel gauges, marking gauges, and squares since the 1840s. The family-owned business, now managed by a 6th generation Marples, combines traditional methods with modern technology. These try squares feature 1/8" thick machined solid brass on the inside face, ensuring durability and accuracy. They have a blued spring steel blade, secured with round brass rivets. The squares meet British Standards BS3322, with accuracy tested twice during manufacture and before dispatch, both inside and out, exceeding the British Standard's specification. The base is made from plantation-grown Indian Rosewood, and the blade from blued spring steel.
