After attending evening art classes for a couple of years André eventually focused on working on his own. Five years ago he swapped the fashion industry for life in the Karoo. He currently lives in Porterville where he spends time in his garden and paints full time. “After my first portrait I knew that I wanted to focus on portraiture. The painting process is rather demanding but the relationship that develops between an image and myself makes it extremely satisfying. I never need to look for images; they somehow find me. I even find myself painting the same image more than once but always with different impressions.”
